Q: How does this work?
Our mentorship platform makes mentors visible, particularly to those who have historically not had access to mentors in the past. Use the filters to identify what skills you need assistance on, and send a request to your mentor using the Request this Mentor button. Mentors will then reach out to you if they’ve accepted your request.
Q: How do I contact my mentor?
After you send the mentor request form, your mentor will reach out to you. Any ongoing communications will be determined by both the mentor and the mentee.
Q: How do I ensure a meaningful mentorship relationship?
In order for a mentorship relationship to work, clear expectations on timing and goals should be indicated before any communications begin. Please review our Code of Conduct for some tips and guidelines on how to get the most out of your mentorship.
Q: How do I report harassment?
We take all matters of harassment very seriously. If any party violates the terms set out in our code of conduct, please report it immediately to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: Will mentors or mentees be paid for their involvement?
Right now, neither mentors or mentees will be paid for using the platform. The nature of each mentorship will vary on a case-by-case basis, so there is no uniform payment structure.
Q: I’m not interested in a long-term mentorship relationship, but still want guidance on a specific issue. Is that possible?
Yes! Mentors have indicated the time that they are able to give on their mentorship profile. Please make sure that your needs align with the time commitment provided by the mentor before reaching out to them. You can also use our Forum to crowd-source ideas or share news and information.
