As of Tuesday, December 1, Congress is back to work in Washington, D.C. The Independent Restaurant Coalition has put together a letter to Speaker Pelosi, Leader McConnell, Leader Schumer, and Leader McCarthy urging them to pass the RESTAURANTS Act.
The bipartisan RESTAURANTS Act would establish a $120B relief fund that would award grants to struggling restaurants and bars. Two hundred and fourteen U.S. Representatives and 50 U.S. Senators from both parties have co-sponsored this commonsense legislation because they recognize no small business should have to choose between the health and safety of their staff, guests, and community, and keeping their teams employed.
Restaurants are permanently closing, leaving millions of people out of work and uncertain about their future. The industry is in crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and desperately needs help.
We’re supporting the IRC in trying to collect as many signatures as possible. Sign on to the letter here now and share the link with your networks.
If you’re looking for more ways to get involved after you’ve signed on to the letter, check out our article on how you can help pass restaurant relief during a lame-duck Congress.
